Intravitreal injections

Intravitreal injections are injections of medication administered into the eye cavity through the white of the eye (sclera). This is done by first numbing the eyewith numbing drops and numbing jelly. Then the injection is given using a very tiny needle. Most patients feel only a small amount of pressure and no pain. It is common to have anxiety about this procedure and the doctor and staff work hard to make the experience as relaxing as possible. These injections are given for many conditions and often must be administered monthly.
